Hyderabad in Telangana has seen a 13% drop in cybercrime during the first half of 2025, unlike the 37% rise nationally. Shikha Goel, head of the Telangana Cyber Security Bureau (TGCSB), praised her team for this achievement.
On Friday, 25 “Cyber Warriors” from various parts of Telangana, along with 15 members from the TGCSB and Cyber Crime Police Stations, were honored for their outstanding work in different areas of cybercrime.
Their contributions included handling NCRP petitions efficiently, securing refund orders, conducting awareness sessions, executing PT warrants promptly, and managing status calls diligently.
During the ceremony, Shikha Goel stressed the need for continuous learning, teamwork, and quick action to fight the growing cybercrime threat. She urged officers and cyber warriors to use the latest tools and technologies to improve their skills.
She pointed out the decrease in cybercrime in the state, crediting the efforts of the TGCSB and all Police Commissioners and Superintendents across Telangana. Although Rs 726 crore has been lost to cybercrime this year, Rs 105 crore has been frozen, and Rs 102 crore has been returned to victims.
Additionally, authorities have blocked 1,957 SIM cards, 7,178 IMEIs, and 565 URLs in their enforcement drive. They have also conducted targeted awareness programs statewide.
