Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, Telangana’s Minister of Revenue, Housing, and Information, announced that plans for the local body elections are progressing well. Notifications will likely be released by the month’s end. He shared this update while visiting Kusumanchi in the Khammam district on Sunday.
Election dates will soon be announced after a cabinet meeting set for June 16. Initially, elections for Mandal Parishad Territorial Constituencies (MPTCs) and Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituencies (ZPTCs) will take place. Elections for Sarpanch and municipal positions will follow.
During his visit, Reddy called for unity among local leaders. He stressed the importance of addressing public issues before the elections. With only 15 days left before voting, he urged leaders to fix any village problems to ensure smooth elections. Candidates with a strong chance of winning will be selected, following reservation rules.
Reddy also mentioned that eligible farmers would soon receive their farmer’s guarantee for all acres. Bonuses will be directly deposited into their bank accounts. He highlighted the role of local leaders in promoting welfare schemes and completing the construction of Indiramma houses for beneficiaries in their villages.
