The Telangana Government Textbook Press announced that textbooks for the new academic year will not be delayed. The School Education department has already sent out 33 percent of the free component textbooks to district locations, which is good news for students who had trouble getting textbooks last year.

The joint director in charge of textbooks, Srinivasa Chary, said that the first phase of textbooks will be given to students before the new academic year starts, and the second phase will be given in July or August. Bilingual textbooks have been printed this year because English has been introduced as a language of instruction in Classes I to VIII and even in Class IX.

To make up for the increase in pages due to bilingual languages, textbooks will be given to students in two phases: for summative I and summative II. A total of 1,57,48,270 free component textbooks are needed for 28,77,675 students in government-run institutions for the academic year 2023-24. Out of these, 1,05,38,044 textbooks have already been sent to district points and will be delivered to schools.

Private schools will get access to these books in the market from May 1, but the cost of textbooks has increased due to the rise in paper costs. This year, each sales component textbook may cost around Rs 75, compared to last year’s Rs 55. The exact prices of textbooks for this year will be determined once they are available in stores.
