Hyderabad – The Telangana State Public Service Commission (TGPSC) has filed a legal appeal to reverse a court decision that temporarily halted the Group-1 recruitment process. The appeal challenges interim orders issued by Justice Namavarapu Rajeshwara Rao, who had paused the recruitment following complaints from candidates.
A group of aspirants claimed that the evaluation of the Group-1 Mains exams was flawed. They also alleged that rules were not followed when assigning exam centers. In response, the court issued a temporary stay on recruitment but allowed officials to continue verifying candidate certificates.
Now, the TGPSC has brought the matter to the Chief Justice’s bench, which is set to hear the case on April 29. Due to the pending appeal, Justice Rao postponed the original hearing to Wednesday.
In a separate but related case, Justice Nagesh Bheemakapaka took strict action against 19 candidates who appeared for the Group-1 Mains exams held from October 21 to 27, 2024. These candidates had claimed that exam results were tampered with, using the example of a hall-ticket number 240920176. They alleged that the candidate’s marks were unfairly reduced from 329.5 to 192.5.
However, the judge found that the mentioned candidate had never joined the petition nor filed any official complaint with the TGPSC. Calling the claim misleading, the court ruled that the petitioners gave false information under oath.
As a consequence, the court imposed a fine of ₹20,000 on the group. The amount must be paid to court masters and personal secretaries of the High Court judges. Additionally, the Registrar (Judicial) has been asked to begin prosecution against the 19 petitioners.
Out of the 19, eight are currently employed in government jobs, both at the state and central levels. Legal action against them could seriously impact their future careers.
The court officially dismissed the writ petition filed by K. Muthaiah, a railway employee, and 18 others who had failed to secure ranks in the Group-1 results.
