Hyderabad – The Enforcement Directorate (ED) launched a series of raids on Monday in connection to a land scam involving Bhoodan lands in Maheshwaram. The operation focused on five different locations, including the home of a land dealer in the Old City area.
The ED carried out the raids with support from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). Officials say several individuals were involved in illegally selling government-allotted Bhoodan lands. These plots were meant for the poor but were allegedly sold off using fake documents and manipulated records.
Authorities searched the homes of Mohammed Munawar Khan, Khaderunnisa, and MA Shukoor, collecting several important documents. Raids also took place in Meerpet and Viratnagar, expanding the investigation beyond the Old City.
This crackdown follows earlier questioning of an IAS officer linked to the case. The investigation began after a formal complaint was filed by Dastagir Shareef, a resident of Mehdipatnam, in 2023.
Dastagir accused land dealers, real estate agents, and government officials of tampering with land records. He claimed they illegally sold Bhoodan lands, which were originally donated under the Bhoodan Yagna movement to help the underprivileged.
A case was registered at the Maheshwaram police station against several people, including Munawar Khan, Khaderunnisa, and RP Jyothi, who served as the MRO and joint sub-registrar of Maheshwaram.
The ED continues to investigate the misuse of these valuable government lands and the network behind the alleged fraud.
