Hyderabad: To improve public transport in the city’s IT corridor, the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) will introduce 275 more electric buses. These new buses will join the existing 200 electric buses already serving the area.
On Tuesday, a meeting took place at the Tech Mahindra campus involving TGSRTC, the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM), and the Telangana Facility Management Council (TFMC). They met with software company representatives to discuss enhancing transport facilities. TGSRTC Managing Director V C Sajjanar spoke to IT representatives, mentioning the availability of metro deluxe and electric buses for hire by IT firms to ensure safe employee travel.
“We are tailoring bus services to fit the transportation needs of software employees in this area,” Sajjanar stated. He highlighted the traffic problems caused by private vehicles and stressed that public transport is the key to reducing traffic congestion and supporting environmental conservation. Sajjanar suggested IT companies should actively promote public transport among employees and consider incentives for those who choose it.
IT company representatives shared suggestions for improving transport services in the IT corridor. Senior RTC officials assured them their feedback would be considered. The meeting included ASSOCHAM Southern Sector Co-Chairman Krishna Edula, TFMC President Satyanarayana Madala, and senior officials from RTC and various IT companies.
