Approximately 4,000 patients in Telangana have Thalassemia and rely on regular transfusions. The number of cases is expected to increase by 5-6% each year, putting pressure on the healthcare system.

On International Thalassemia Day, the Blood Warriors Foundation held awareness sessions at Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Technology. These sessions highlighted the challenges faced by patients and stressed the importance of comprehensive care.

To combat Thalassemia, a multifaceted approach is needed, including regular blood donations, quality medical treatment, and emotional support. Education and screening are also crucial to identify carriers of the condition. Krishna Vamshi Rajalingu, co-founder & CEO of Blood Warriors Foundation, emphasized the need for a support system for current patients and awareness of preventive measures like HPLC tests.
