The 3-day National Conference of Vice Chancellors of AIU hosted by ICFAI University in Hyderabad began with a technical session on Nurturing Research and Innovation Ecosystem. The session was led by Prof. Neelima Gupta from Dr. Harisingh Gour Vishwavidyalaya Sagar, with speakers including Dr. B J Rao from University of Hyderabad, Prof. Raj Singh from Jain University, Rahul Kulshreshtha from the Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser (PSA) to the Govt. of India, and Dr. Shubhra Dutta from Elsevier.

During the session, speakers highlighted the impact of the NEP on research and innovation, emphasizing the importance of academic and innovation loops. Dr. B J Rao specifically discussed the importance of focusing on all students, including backbenchers, to nurture their potential and encourage them to create innovations through knowledge.

Another technical session on Digital Transformation in Higher Education was chaired by Prof. B.S Murty from IIT Hyderabad. Raghav Gupta from Coursera (India and APAC) spoke about how COVID-19 accelerated digital transformation. Dr. Basheer Ahmad Shadrach discussed the challenges and opportunities presented by digital transformation in India, emphasizing the importance of digital skills for the country’s future.

Overall, the conference brought together experts to discuss important topics related to research, innovation, and digital transformation in higher education.
