Hyderabad: The Federation of Associations of Telangana Higher Institutions (FATHI) has urged the government to release Rs 900 crore in overdue fee reimbursements by November 1. They warned that if this amount is not paid, a state-wide strike will begin on November 3.

FATHI submitted a document to express serious concerns about the worsening situation in private colleges throughout the state. Although the government promised to release Rs 1,200 crore for fee reimbursements, only Rs 300 crore has been disbursed so far, leaving Rs 900 crore outstanding.

This partial payment has caused widespread distress in institutions. Faculty, staff, vendors, and building owners have been waiting months for their payments, leading to increased pressure. FATHI has tried to calm the managements, but frustration and desperation are growing, creating a volatile situation.

Colleges are now struggling to function. Electricity and internet services have been cut, maintenance has stopped, and essential campus services have collapsed. With inspections by AICTE and universities currently happening, these worsening conditions are embarrassing for Telangana’s higher education sector, affecting its image with regulatory bodies and the public.
