Karimnagar:
Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar announced that the State government has ordered a thorough investigation into the recent collapse of the retaining wall of the Sunkishala project. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has initiated this inquiry.
The retaining wall of the Sunkishala project, part of the Nagarjuna Sagar dam across the Krishna River in Nalgonda, collapsed on August 1. Fortunately, no casualties were reported. The collapse happened during a shift change when water breached the dead storage and overflowed into the Sunkishala pump house.
Minister Prabhakar mentioned that the Sunkishala project was constructed during the BRS regime. He emphasized that officials from the Municipal, HMDA, and Metro Water Works should conduct a detailed investigation into the incident.
The Minister criticized BRS leaders for their comments about Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s visit to the United States, stating that the visit was for the benefit of Telangana. He accused the BRS leaders of using personal issues to undermine the Chief Minister’s efforts.
Speaking to the media at Bhimadevarapalli on Thursday, Prabhakar recalled that the previous Chief Minister never focused on bringing investments to the state. He suggested that BRS leaders are making accusations to divert attention from the failures of the previous government.
He accused the BRS of harming the people of Telangana with ill-advised decisions, specifically mentioning the Kaleswaram project, which, according to him, did not benefit the farmers. He also criticized BRS MLAs for avoiding the Assembly because they couldn’t provide satisfactory answers.
Prabhakar highlighted that those eligible for 200 units of free electricity and Rs 500 for gas should submit their details. He noted that the government has started waiving farmer loans up to Rs 2 lakh, with Rs 1.50 lakh already completed. Farmers who haven’t received the waiver should contact agriculture officials.
He mentioned that Rs 21 crore has been released for loan waivers in Bhimadevarapalli mandal. He claimed that BRS leaders are frustrated because they got zero seats in the Lok Sabha polls. Minister Kishan Reddy, while criticizing Congress, is repeating KCR’s words, suggesting that those who benefited from the loan waiver should question the Congress government.
Prabhakar concluded by stating that BRS is not separate from BJP and that people perceive them as the same. He criticized Minister Kishan Reddy for not speaking out against injustices done to Telangana in the budget.
