Tourist police coming soon, says DGP

Hyderabad: The safety of tourists in Telangana is set to improve with the introduction of Tourist Police at key destinations. Director General of Police Dr. Jitender announced the deployment of 80 officers to the Tourism Department.

In a meeting on Wednesday with the Tourism Department, Dr. Jitender stated that a new Tourist Police System will launch by World Tourism Day on September 27.

Prominent attendees included Tourism Department Special Chief Secretary Jayesh Ranjan, Law & Order Additional DGP Mahesh M Bhagwat, and other senior officials.

These police units will be stationed at popular sites like Ananthagiri, Somasila, Ramappa, Yadagirigutta, Pochampally, Nagarjunasagar, Buddhavanam, Bhadrachalam, and Amrabad. The DGP promised full support to the Tourism Department to enhance safety and promote tourism in Telangana.

Dr. Jitender also recommended creating guidelines for issuing shooting permits and organizing events to ensure effective security. He advised producers and organizers to notify authorities ahead of time for necessary arrangements.

Special CS Jayesh Ranjan mentioned plans to boost tourism and highlighted the importance of the Tourist Police in protecting visitors at spiritual, medical, and leisure spots, aiming to attract both local and international tourists. Other senior officials, including Hyderabad Additional Commissioner of Police Vikram Singh Mann, also participated in the meeting.
