Two additional superintendents of police in Hyderabad have been arrested for phone tapping and destroying official data. The arrested officials are Thirupathanna and N Bhujanga Rao, who previously worked in the Special Intelligence Bureau and Intelligence Department. They have been remanded in judicial custody.
The police have also issued a lookout circular against former SIB chief T Prabhakar Rao, deputy commissioner P Radhakrishna, and a senior executive of a Telugu TV channel. These individuals are suspected to have left the country and are not cooperating with the investigation. The arrested police officials were accused of colluding with suspended DSP D Praneeth Rao to illegally monitor private persons and destroy evidence.
During questioning, the two officials admitted to their involvement in the crimes, including illegally monitoring individuals and destroying evidence to hide their actions. The investigation is ongoing. Praneeth Rao was previously arrested for developing profiles of unknown persons and monitoring them without authorization.
The police are continuing to investigate the case and gather more information.
