Hyderabad: On Wednesday, Swiss investment bank UBS revealed plans to open a new global capability center (GCC) in Hyderabad. This initiative will create 3,000 jobs over the next two years.
This move strengthens UBS’s presence in the city and shows its long-term commitment to India. The new center highlights Hyderabad’s status as a hub for high-value financial technology and operations.
Telangana Minister for IT and Industries, D Sridhar Babu, praised Hyderabad as a top choice for renowned financial institutions. He believes UBS’s decision to expand here confirms the city’s reputation as a global talent and innovation center.
Minister Babu remarked that UBS’s new center demonstrates global industries’ trust in India’s institutional stability and progressive policies. He sees this as a partnership that enhances the India–EU–Switzerland corridor, adding value to the global financial services sector.
Matthias Schacke, Head of India Service Company and Group Operation & Technology Office India, stated that Hyderabad is crucial for UBS’s growth. The city offers a strong talent pool, supportive policies, and excellent infrastructure. UBS plans to expand its tech capabilities, including AI, and increase its operational presence in Hyderabad.
