Hyderabad / Delhi: Students from the University of Hyderabad have written to Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan about a serious issue concerning the university’s land.
The students said that the state government recently sent JCB machines to clear 400 acres of land within the university. This land is home to many trees and delicate ecosystems, which are now being damaged or destroyed.
They explained that this area once supported 734 species of flowering and medicinal plants, 237 types of birds, 15 kinds of reptiles, and rare animals like the Indian Star Tortoise. Now, much of that wildlife is under threat due to the land clearing.
The students have asked the Union Minister to step in and stop the destruction. They urged the government to declare the 400-acre area a National Park and Green Zone. This would protect the land’s biodiversity and help fight climate change by preserving its natural ability to store carbon.
