A workshop on Drug Discovery and Development was recently held in Hyderabad. The event was organized by the Federation of Asian Biotech Associations in collaboration with the University of Hyderabad (UoH) and Science Gurus. The workshop concluded on Friday.
The main focus of the event was to showcase the potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in transforming healthcare. The day was filled with lively discussions, expert panels, and celebrations of significant achievements in the medical and pharmaceutical fields.
During the workshop, experts talked about both successes and challenges in drug development. They discussed the failure of Compuchin’s drug, Digit, as an example of why it’s important to combine different methods—both computer-based (in silico) and lab-based (in vitro)—for stronger drug development.
The panel also looked at how AI is playing a growing role in cancer treatment and biopharmaceutical development. They explained that AI helps in creating targeted treatments, but it doesn’t replace the need for doctors to make final decisions. Ethical considerations and clinical judgment were highlighted as crucial in using AI effectively.
The workshop ended on a positive note, with participants from various backgrounds and countries praising the event. They appreciated the knowledge shared, the innovative discussions, and the practical insights they gained. A senior officer from UoH mentioned that the event was successful in not only educating attendees but also inspiring future innovations in drug discovery.
