Hyderabad: On Wednesday, Vaddiraju Ravichandra, Deputy Leader of the BRS Parliamentary Party, declared he would not attend a state government presentation, calling it politically motivated.
Initially, Ravichandra was present at the presentation by Irrigation Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy at the Secretariat. However, he left in protest, criticizing the Congress government's handling of the Godavari-Banakacherla linkage project under a Public Private Partnership (PPP). Ravichandra argued that the project was illegal and unfair, and he strongly opposed it. He urged the state to firmly present its opposition to the Centre, demanding the project’s cancellation.
Ravichandra also condemned Chief Minister Revanth Reddy for ignoring BRS’s inputs and attacking KCR. He emphasized that, according to the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, new projects must be discussed in the Apex Council for approval.
He expressed disappointment that the Centre was approving projects without an Apex Council meeting, which violates the Act. Ravichandra urged the Chief Minister to write to the Central Water Resources Department to convene such a meeting immediately.
He insisted that the concerns of Telangana should be addressed in Delhi soon. Additionally, he called for a special Assembly session to pass a unanimous resolution against the Polavaram Banakacherla project and forward it to the Centre. BRS leaders K Kishore Goud, B Ramamurthy, J Jagan Mohan, and others attended the event.
