Hyderabad: The state government has moved forward in the Formula e-race case by giving the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) report to the state Vigilance Commission. This body will review the findings and is expected to report back in two to three days. After that, the information will be sent to the Governor, who will decide on filing a charge sheet.
The Commission is examining the ACB’s report, which looks into alleged fund mismanagement by the Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) department. This involved payments to a company organizing the e-car racing event in Hyderabad.
The Commission’s role is to verify if the evidence supports the charges against K T Rama Rao (KTR), the former MA&UD minister, along with former Municipal Administration secretary Arvind Kumar and HMDA officials. If evidence is lacking, the Commission will advise the ACB to improve the case before proceeding.
In the investigation, KTR was named as A1, Arvind Kumar as A2, and former HMDA engineer BLN Reddy as A3. The ACB has questioned KTR twice and Arvind three times, collecting their statements. The agency believes it has enough evidence showing a quid pro quo between KTR and the racing agencies, particularly concerning the unauthorized payment of Rs 55 crore for the event.
The Vigilance Commission’s report is vital for taking action against those accused. The decision to summon Kiran Rao from Ace Nxt Gen Pvt and a representative from Formula E Operations (FEO), labeled as A4 and A5, will depend on the panel’s conclusions.
