Hyderabad: KT Rama Rao, the BRS working president, urged party leaders on Saturday to challenge the Congress in the upcoming Jubilee Hills by-election. He emphasized that the Congress has failed to fulfill its promises and neglected development in the area.
During a meeting with city leaders, KTR highlighted the achievements of the previous BRS government. He reminded them of improvements made under KCR’s leadership, such as road maintenance, flyover projects, and the 20,000-liter free drinking water scheme. He also noted the modern sanitation systems and welfare programs that benefited residents.
KTR encouraged leaders to reveal the Congress party’s shortcomings. He criticized the Congress for failing to maintain basic services like sanitation, water supply, and drainage in Hyderabad. According to KTR, the Congress ignored the city’s growth and pursued political interests. He stated, “People need to remember how Congress has let them down over the last 22 months.” He urged party members to work together to ensure a BRS victory in the by-election.
KTR stressed the importance of showing BRS’s strength in the upcoming election. He reminded everyone of the trust the people of Hyderabad have placed in BRS by voting for their candidates in past elections.
He detailed BRS’s achievements, including free water supply, Basthi Dawakhanas, affordable meals, increased pensions, and other welfare initiatives like Ramzan Thofas. He mentioned the removal of property tax in some areas and how KCR treated the underprivileged with care.
KTR criticized the Congress manifesto, calling it a “guarantee card” rather than a meaningful political promise. He pointed out unfulfilled promises, such as financial support for women, scooters for young women, and gold for marriages. He noted that Congress continued the same pensions from KCR’s tenure and accused Revanth Reddy of not starting any new projects in Hyderabad over two years.
KTR also mocked the Congress’s contradictory policies, such as providing free bus travel for women but doubling men’s fares. He advised residents to confront Congress leaders with their unfulfilled promises when approached.
