Narsampet (Warangal):
The people in need of medical help no longer have to travel to Hyderabad for advanced healthcare, said Health Minister Damodara Raja Narasimha. He made this statement during the inauguration of a new 160-bed Government Hospital and Medical College in Narsampet on Thursday. He was joined by Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy and Endowments, Environment, and Forest Minister Konda Surekha. The new facility, which cost Rs 183 crore, was initially started by the BRS government but left incomplete. The current Congress Government has now completed the project.
Minister Raja Narasimha also shared plans to transform Warangal into a healthcare hub. The government is focusing on adding specialized medical services like trauma care, kidney transplants, IVF treatments, and cancer centers. To meet the demand for healthcare professionals, the government is working to fill over 4,000 medical positions. He emphasized the importance of trauma centers, particularly to help people injured in road accidents during the critical “Golden Hour.”
Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy said that improving health and education remains a top priority for the government. He also announced that the first batch of medical students would begin classes very soon. Additionally, Ponguleti addressed the crop loan waiver issue, assuring farmers that the delays were due to technical difficulties but that they would receive the promised benefits.
Konda Surekha, Minister for Endowments, Environment, and Forests, highlighted Congress’s long-standing commitment to healthcare. She reminded people of the 104 and 108 medical services launched during Y S Rajasekhara Reddy’s time as Chief Minister. She further praised the current Chief Minister, A Revanth Reddy, for continuing to prioritize healthcare.
Surekha also criticized the previous government for neglecting the MGM Hospital, which serves not only Warangal but also nearby districts and the Sironcha region in Maharashtra. During the event, the ministers also opened the Indira Mahila Canteen on the medical college campus.
Several other dignitaries attended the event, including MP Balaram Naik, Chief Whip Ramchander Naik, and local legislators. Officials like Warangal District Collector Satya Sarada and Director of Medical Education Dr. N Vani were also present.
