Hyderabad: In July, the Hyderabad City Police and Child Welfare Committee carried out Operation Muskaan XI, saving 1,247 children. Among these, 560 came from various states across India.
The mission included the Labour Department, Department of Women and Child Welfare, Child Line, Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU), Juvenile Bureau (JB) Unit, and several NGOs. Running from July 1 to July 31, the operation focused on rescuing children involved in child labor, begging, and unsafe environments.
Police reported that 28 special teams worked throughout the city. They conducted inspections at commercial places, traffic spots, bus and railway stations, construction sites, and other suspicious areas. These teams showed dedication in protecting children’s rights.
Viswaprasad, Additional CP Crimes, shared that 1,247 children were saved, including 1,173 boys and 74 girls. Of these, 673 were from Telangana, and 560 were from other Indian states. Notably, 14 children were from Nepal. To address the issue legally, 55 FIRs were filed against employers using child labor. Additionally, 939 cases under the Minimum Wages Act were charged, resulting in fines totaling Rs 47,75,921.
Under Viswaprasad’s supervision, a meeting with all involved parties was held at the start of Operation Muskaan XI. A follow-up video conference with the 28 teams further encouraged their efforts, leading to the operation’s success.
