The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) received 157 complaints on Monday during the public hearing called the Prajavani programme. These complaints were gathered at both the GHMC headquarters and its various circles.
At the GHMC headquarters alone, there were 70 complaints. The town planning department had the most with 32 complaints, followed by 26 for engineering maintenance. The revenue department received 5 complaints, while the health and sanitation department got 3. The UBD department had 2 complaints, and both the UCD department and the sports department received one complaint each.
Across six GHMC zones, 87 additional complaints were submitted. The Kukatpally zone had the highest number at 31. Secunderabad followed with 22, Serilingampally with 14, LB Nagar with 13, and Charminar with 7. Khairtabad zone reported no complaints.
Officials collected and quickly forwarded these complaints to the appropriate departments to ensure fast resolution. Present at the hearing were Additional Commissioners Raghu Prasad, Venu Gopal, Subhadra Devi, Alivelu Mangatayaru, CCP Srinivas, Maintenance Chief Engineer Sahadev Ratnakar, Irrigation CE Nityananda, and Additional CCPs Pradeep and Ranjith.
In a related event, the Hyderabad Disaster Response, Assets Monitoring and Protection Agency (HYDRAA) also received 41 complaints through their public grievance programme on Monday. HYDRAA Commissioner AV Ranganath reviewed these issues and tasked the relevant authorities with resolving them. Most complaints involved encroachments impacting nalas and lakes.
