The EAGLE Force conducted a surprise raid at Taramati Baradari in Golconda, where a special party themed “More Than Friends” was being hosted with an international DJ. The operation targeted suspected drug consumers at the historical venue, leading to multiple arrests.
Police had shortlisted 35 suspected drug consumers before executing the raid. The teams conducted surprise checks using ABONN urine drug test kits without disrupting the ongoing event. The strategic operation allowed authorities to test attendees discreetly while the party continued.
Six people tested positive for drug consumption during the raid. Five individuals tested positive for ganja or THC, while one person tested positive for AMP. The positive cases included an actor-model and a husband-wife duo among other attendees.
The individuals who tested positive have been identified as Sarwar, a model and actor who tested positive for THC, Nihar, a spices trader who tested positive for THC, and Aashi, wife of Nihar, also testing positive for THC. Additionally, Jason, a DJ, tested positive for AMP, while Yogeshwar, a businessman, and Abinash, a pharmaceutical analyst, both tested positive for THC.
A case has been registered under the NDPS Act against all six individuals. Further investigation is currently underway to trace the source of the drugs and identify any other persons involved in the supply chain.
Taramati Baradari is a 17th-century pavilion and a key monument from the Qutb Shahi era located in a historically significant area. The monument is named after the famous courtesan and dancer Taramati, whose singing and performances are said to have reached the Golconda Fort over 2 km away due to its brilliant acoustics engineering.
The venue features a splendid outdoor amphitheater and an indoor auditorium, traditionally used for plays and classical music concerts. The use of this heritage site for hosting parties has raised questions about the preservation and appropriate use of historically important monuments in the city.
