    The Municipal Administration and Urban Development department in Hyderabad received over Rs 900 crore in property tax from 140 urban local bodies (ULBs) in 2023-24. This amount exceeded the target of Rs 1,300 crore by achieving over 70% of the goal.

    The government had set a target of Rs 1,300 crore from the ULBs, excluding the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC). The department was able to collect over Rs 922 crore, which is 70.92% of the target.

    Among the ULBs, Sircilla Municipality had the highest tax collection rate at over 99%, while Zaheerabad Municipality had the lowest at just 34.77% as of March 31. The larger municipalities like Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation, Nizamabad Municipal Corporation, Karimnagar Municipal Corporation, and Mahbubnagar also performed well in property tax collection.

    Even ULBs on the outskirts of the city saw good revenue from property tax collection. Nizampet Corporation, Dundigal Municipality, Manikonda, and Badangpet Municipal Corporation achieved varying percentages of their targets.

    The top five ULBs in terms of property tax collection percentages were Sircilla, Yellendu, Huzurabad, Ieeja, and Devarakonda. On the other hand, the bottom five ULBs were Zaheerabad, Nalgonda, Nakrekal, Jalpally, and Miryalaguda.
