The State government of Telangana has made detailed plans to conduct a caste census starting on November 6. This survey will continue for three weeks and will use the help of various staff members, including primary school teachers and MRC (Mandals Resource Centre) workers.
Around 80,000 employees will be involved in this survey. These include staff from MROK, MDOS, MPOs, Asha workers, Anganwadi workers, and some teachers. However, the government is trying not to involve too many teachers because there is already a shortage of teaching staff, and they don’t want to disturb school lessons.
Officials explained that 36,559 Secondary Grade Teachers, 3,414 Primary School Head Masters, 6,256 MRC workers, and around 2,000 government school staff will help with the census. These staff members include Typists, Record Assistants, Junior Assistants, and Senior Assistants.
To make it easier for the teachers to help with the census, the government has decided that primary schools will only run for half a day, from 9 am to 1 pm. After serving Mid-Day Meals, students will be allowed to go home. After school hours, teachers will help with the census, working with the Planning Department.
Teachers in Upper Primary Schools and High Schools will not be asked to help with the census. Their schools will continue to run as usual. All the staff assigned to the census will work full days during holidays, and they will be paid for their work according to Planning Department rules. The Director of School Education in Telangana has been asked to ensure that these instructions are followed.
