Khammam: The birth of a baby girl should be seen as a moment of joy and completeness in a family, said District In-charge Collector Dr. P Sreeja.
She spoke about the importance of treating girls the same as boys and encouraged people to see girls as blessings, not burdens. District Collector Muzammil Khan also shared this view, saying that the birth of a girl is a precious gift.
As part of the “Maa Papa – Maa Inti Manideepam Programme,” which is held every Wednesday, Dr. Sreeja visited the home of Vankudot Sunita and Naresh in Raghunathapalem village.
The couple recently welcomed their second daughter on March 19, 2025. Dr. Sreeja visited them to celebrate the occasion. She brought sweets, fruits, and a certificate, and also honored the family with a shawl.
During her visit, Dr. Sreeja spoke about the need for society to change its mindset. She said girls should be given equal opportunities and access to quality education.
She also encouraged families to support their daughters’ dreams and allow them to choose their own career paths. By doing so, she said, we can reduce gender inequality and truly value girls in our communities.
