Karimnagar: A 73-year-old woman from Karimnagar, Adepu Vijaya Lakshmi, received advanced heart treatment at Yashoda Hospital in Somajiguda, Hyderabad. Doctors used the latest techniques in heart care to successfully treat her without the need for open-heart surgery.
According to Dr. Jagadesh Madireddy, Consultant Interventional Cardiologist, the hospital used Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) and Orbital Atherectomy (OA) to perform a complex angioplasty. These tools allowed doctors to see inside the arteries with high precision and safely remove hard blockages.
The patient first experienced chest pain and visited local hospitals in Karimnagar. After initial tests, her family brought her to Yashoda Medical Centre in Karimnagar. Dr. Jagadesh reviewed her condition and referred her to the main hospital in Hyderabad for further treatment.
At Yashoda Hospital in Somajiguda, doctors discovered three serious blockages in her heart. Using percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) guided by OCT, they placed stents to open the arteries. The entire procedure was done without any bypass surgery.
The treatment was a success. The patient recovered quickly and was discharged just two days later with prescribed medications.
Dr. Jagadesh emphasized that Yashoda Hospital is among the first in Telangana to use such advanced tools for heart care. This technology helps doctors treat patients more accurately and safely, offering faster recovery and fewer complications.
