Telangana Cabinet to Discuss Maoist Peace Talks in Next Meeting

Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy shared that the Telangana State Cabinet will discuss the issue of Maoists in its next meeting.
The Cabinet will decide whether to ask the Union Government to start peace talks with the Maoists. A final decision will be made after discussions with the ministers.
On Sunday, members of the Peace Talks Committee met the Chief Minister at his home in Jubilee Hills.
During the meeting, Revanth Reddy told the committee that his government views Naxalism as a social problem, not just a law and order issue.
He said the government plans to seek advice from senior leader and former Home Minister K Jana Reddy, who has experience in holding talks with Maoists in the past.
“Our government sees Naxalism from a social perspective, not as a security threat. I will take the advice of Jana Reddy, who has dealt with such issues before. I will also discuss this matter with my ministers and make a decision,” Revanth Reddy posted on the X platform.
The Peace Talks Committee urged the Chief Minister to start efforts for peace talks between the Centre and the Maoists. They also asked him to push for a ceasefire.
Committee members Justice Chandrakumar, Professor Haragopal, Professor Anwar Khan, Durga Prasad, Jampanna, and Ravi Chander gave a formal request letter to the Chief Minister.
