Akbaruddin Owaisi, the AIMIM floor leader, has called on the State government to take action against the increasing drug problem and substance abuse among the youth in Hyderabad. He expressed concern over the growing number of young people becoming addicted to drugs. Akbar highlighted that narcotics are easily accessible to the youth, including school-going children who are being targeted by drug peddlers. He urged the government to increase vigilance near educational institutions.

In response, Minister K T Rama Rao stated that the government has formed an anti-narco team under City Police Commissioner C V Anand, and they are actively working to address the drug issue. He assured that the government is committed to making the State drug-free. This is not the first time Akbar has raised this issue, as he had also brought it up during the budget session earlier this year.
