Filigree, also known as filigrann or filigrene, is a delicate form of jewelry metal work typically made of gold and silver. It involves tiny beads or twisted threads soldered onto a metal surface to create artistic motifs. The history of filigree can be traced back to Italian and French metal work from the 17th to 19th centuries. Karimnagar silver filigree, which has been flourishing for 400 years, received Geographical Indication (GI) status in 2007.

The delicate filigree work of Karimnagar is highly regarded and in demand all over India. Customers are enthusiastic about purchasing silver filigree products due to its rarity and cultural significance. Skilled craftsmen in Karimnagar take pride in continuing this artistic tradition that represents the cultural heritage of the region.
