Hyderabad‘s Jubilee Hills was once just empty land. It had rocks, bushes, and snakes, but no roads or houses.

On August 13, 1975, famous actor Akkineni Nageswara Rao Garu saw potential in this place. He wanted a home for Telugu cinema in its own region. His efforts began the development of Jubilee Hills, Film Nagar, and Krishna Nagar, changing Hyderabad’s film industry.

The studio officially opened on January 14, 1976, with Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed, the President of India, inaugurating it. Over time, it expanded to include multiple shooting floors, outdoor sets, and advanced post-production facilities. To nurture new talent, Annapurna College of Film and Media was established, offering courses in acting, directing, cinematography, editing, and sound design.
