The Meteorological Department has alerted Andhra Pradesh (AP) and Telangana about upcoming heavy rains due to the southwest monsoon and a cyclone in the Bay of Bengal. People should prepare for significant rainfall in the next two days.
A red alert is in place for Kamareddy and Vikarabad districts, predicting intense rain. The Hyderabad Meteorological Centre warns of severe weather, including heavy rain, lightning, and thunder in Telangana, caused by the cyclone. Winds could reach 40 to 50 km/h.
Alongside the red alert, an orange alert is active for Vikarabad and Kamareddy, signaling potential for very heavy rain and strong winds. A yellow alert is issued for ten other districts in Telangana, forecasting light to moderate rain with winds of 30 to 40 km/h.
In Andhra Pradesh, weather varies across regions. Some districts enjoy sunny weather, while others see rain. The Meteorological Department expects moderate to heavy rain in several AP districts in the next two days, especially in southern coastal areas. Rain is likely in Prakasam, Nandyal, Kurnool, Anantapur, Sathya Sai, Kadapa, and Annamayya districts, with heavy rain already reported in Parvathipuram, Manyam, Srikakulam, and Visakhapatnam.
Despite the rain forecast, high temperatures persist in many Andhra Pradesh districts. The Meteorological Department predicts these high temperatures will continue over the next two days, particularly in Vizianagaram, Manyam, West Godavari, Eluru, NTR, Guntur, Palnadu, and Nellore districts.
