The Southern India Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SICCI) has elected Arun Alagappan as its President. Arun Alagappan, who is the Executive Vice Chairman of Coromandel International Limited, expressed his gratitude for being appointed as President. He believes this position will allow him to contribute to the growth of the industry and the nation as a whole.
Arun Alagappan is optimistic about India’s ability to handle external factors better than other developing countries. He specifically highlights the industrially advanced southern states in India as being in a unique position to benefit from the current situation. According to the World Bank, India’s GDP is projected to grow at 6.3% in FY2024, with India contributing nearly 17% to global growth. In light of these trends, SICCI will present a strategic plan to the government aimed at accelerating growth in emerging sectors.
The objective of this plan is to foster a successful partnership between the government and the industry in order to facilitate investment and growth in these sectors.
