The Sri Lankan Cricket Board has offered to host the Asia Cup 2023 tournament, as India continues to oppose the idea of traveling to Pakistan due to logistical inconvenience. The Sri Lankan official said that they are prepared to host the tournament at short notice, but it is up to the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) to make the final decision. Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and Sri Lanka have given a green signal to the Hybrid Model proposal, but it is yet to be accepted. The proposal suggests that the tournament will be played in two halves, with India playing their matches at a neutral venue in either UAE or Sri Lanka during the second half. The neutral venue will also host the final. A formal meeting of the ACC is expected in the next few days.
