Chandigarh / Hyderabad: Bandi Sanjay Kumar, India’s Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, praised Chandigarh as a shining example of “Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat” on Friday. He spoke after launching several new projects and laying foundations for future developments.
He inaugurated the Sector-50 Commerce College Hostel, expanded the Government Senior Secondary School Complex, and opened a new IT block at Sector-46 Postgraduate College. Additionally, Sanjay Kumar presented 144 new homes at the Chandigarh Police Complex in Dhanas.
The Minister pointed out Chandigarh’s progress in development, transparency, and security. Initiatives like the Smart City project, road enhancements, public transport upgrades, digital governance, the Haritha Bharat initiative, and the Swachh Bharat Mission are visibly improving residents’ lives.
Projects launched today, under the theme “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas,” underscore Chandigarh’s growth and reflect the country’s ambition. He thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah for their leadership. With their guidance, India is advancing towards a “developed nation.” Amit Shah’s direction makes “Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat” a reality, alongside Chandigarh Governor Gulab Chandra Kataria steering the city forward.
Sanjay Kumar highlighted that Chandigarh is the first city to fully adopt the Indian Penal Code, the Indian Civil Protection Code, and the Indian Evidence Act. Under the Viksit Bharat 2047 Mission, he aims to elevate India in economic growth.
The vision includes transforming Chandigarh into a knowledge hub, wellness city, and model for smart governance. Sanjay Kumar praised officials, planners, engineers, workers, and citizens integral to these efforts.
Attendees included Chandigarh Mayor Harpreet Kaur Babla, Chief Secretary Rajiv Verma, DGP Pushpendra Kumar, Finance Secretary Diprav Lakra, Additional Solicitor General Satyapal Jain, and Science and Technology Secretary Saurabh Kumar, among others.
