Hyderabad: Bandi Sanjay Kumar, Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, raised concerns about the Congress party holding the ‘Samajika Samara Bheri’ meeting in the city with AICC Chief Mallikarjun Kharge in attendance.

On Friday, he pointed out that although the Congress has governed the country and the state for over 50 years, they have never appointed a Backward Class (BC) individual as Prime Minister or Chief Minister. He criticized their failure to implement six guarantees that would benefit Dalits, backward classes, and weaker sections. He questioned the reason for holding the meeting and demanded that Mallikarjun Kharge provide answers. Without these answers, he suggested the meeting be called ‘Social Injustice Samara Bheri.’

In contrast, he highlighted the BJP‘s achievements, noting that they appointed Ram Nath Kovind, a Dalit; Draupadi Murmu, a tribal; and Abdul Kalam, a minority, as Presidents. The BJP has included 27 OBCs, 12 Dalits, 6 minorities, and 8 women in the central cabinet, which he described as a historic feat. Sanjay Kumar also mentioned his own appointment, along with other BC leaders like Dr. K. Laxman and Bandaru Dattatreya, to significant positions. He recalled the Congress mocking Modi, a BC, when he was a “chaiwala” before becoming Prime Minister.

He reminded that Modi promised a BC Chief Minister if BJP wins in Telangana. He challenged Congress on their BC representation in state cabinets, despite BCs being over 50% of the population. He questioned why BC leader Ponnam Prabhakar wasn’t given a position, arguing that Congress holding a social justice rally seems unjustified without BC representation.

He also criticized Congress for not fulfilling promises to women, like Rs. 2,500 monthly support, Rs. 4,000 pension, Rs. 4,000 unemployment benefits, Rs. 5 lakh for students, and Rs. 21,000 per acre for farmers, along with bonuses. He asked why they haven’t delivered on the 420 promises in their manifesto, including the six guarantees, and insisted Mallikarjun Kharge address these at the rally.

Regarding fertilizer shortages, he accused Congress and BRS of unfairly blaming the central government as local elections approach. He clarified that during the last agriculture season, Telangana needed 9 lakh metric tons of urea, but the Centre supplied 12 lakh metric tons. He questioned where the extra urea went and criticized the state for blaming the Centre without explaining the discrepancies. He emphasized the state’s responsibility to resolve issues and communicate facts to the public while expressing the Centre’s willingness to support Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao‘s requests.
