BC Commission continues public hearings on Day 2

Hyderabad: The Telangana Backward Classes Commission continued its public hearings on Tuesday. This was the second day focusing on 26 castes not included in the Telangana BC list since the state’s creation. BC Commission Chairman G Niranjan led the session, with members Rapolu Jayaprakash, Tirumalgiri Surender, Bala Lakshmi Rangu, Deputy Director U Srinivasa Rao, Special Officer G Satish Kumar, and Research Officer G Lakshminarayana present.

The Commission reviewed 56 cases. Representatives from the Gavara, Turpukapu (Gajulakapu), Settibalija, Nagavamsam, and Koppulavelama castes requested their inclusion in the state’s BC list. Andhra Pradesh Rajya Sabha MP Paka Venkata Satyanarayana and AP Labour Minister Vasamsetti Subhash advocated for the Setti Balija caste.

On the other hand, members from the Telangana BC ‘A’ group urged the Commission not to add the 26 castes. The public hearings will continue at the Commission office on Wednesday.
