Hyderabad: Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu, the Deputy Chief Minister of Telangana, has ordered the immediate release of Rs.303 crore by the Finance Department. This fund will clear overdue payments for Overseas Scholarships for students from Minorities, SC, ST, BC, and OC Minority groups.
These funds will cover all outstanding scholarships from 2022 onwards. This decision will bring significant relief to many students and their families who have been financially burdened.
Many students from low-income and middle-class families went abroad under the Overseas Scholarship Scheme. They aimed to pursue higher education and find better jobs. However, delays in releasing funds since the last government caused difficulties for them and their families back in Telangana.
The situation worsened with new restrictions in countries like the US and UK. These restrictions limited students’ options to study and work at the same time, while living and tuition costs increased.
Recognizing this issue, Bhatti Vikramarka made it a priority. He emphasized that the scholarship, which is nearly Rs.20 lakh per student, is crucial for continuing their studies and reaching their goals.
Several students abroad expressed their gratitude. They stated that this financial support from the government will help them achieve their dreams and eventually contribute back to the State and the nation.
