Hyderabad: The Telangana BJP criticized Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy‘s “BCs Dharna” in Delhi on Wednesday, calling it a failed political move. The event lacked public support and didn’t have the presence of Congress leaders like Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi, raising doubts about Congress’s dedication to Backward Classes.
N.V. Subash, BJP’s Chief Spokesperson, questioned the need for the protest when top Congress leaders ignored it. Despite efforts by the Telangana CM and other Congress officials to bring supporters to Delhi via a special train, the event didn’t succeed.
Reports showed few Congress leaders, such as Gaurav Gogoi and Digvijay Singh, attended. Subash claimed that the call for 42% reservation for BCs was a strategy to allocate 10% to minority Muslims, betraying the state’s BC community.
Subash criticized Congress for ignoring BC welfare historically, citing the neglect of the Mandal Commission report. He challenged Revanth Reddy’s concern for BC empowerment, questioning why more BC leaders weren’t in his Cabinet or given the Chief Minister’s role.
He also accused Revanth Reddy of attacking Prime Minister Narendra Modi‘s BC credentials for political gain. Subash stated that Revanth had stooped to the level of Congress leaders who spread misinformation.
Subash reaffirmed BJP’s dedication to social justice, highlighting their consistent support for BCs, OBCs, SCs, and STs at the national and state levels, with many BC leaders becoming Chief Ministers and Union Ministers.
