Hyderabad: On Wednesday, Telangana BJP President N Ramchander Rao criticized the Congress party’s Delhi protests, calling them a “drama” meant to mislead the BC community in Telangana regarding the proposed 42% reservations.
Rao spoke to the media in Ramagundam, describing the protests as a show directed by Rahul Gandhi with the participants as mere actors. He claimed that if the Revanth Reddy government grants 10% reservations to Muslims, the BC reservation would drop to 32%. Rao questioned why the Congress, which made the Kamareddy BC Declaration and introduced a BC reservation bill, has not implemented it in Telangana.
He pointed out that Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah attended the Kamareddy meeting. Rao suggested that Revanth Reddy should discuss BC reservations with Karnataka’s leadership instead of staging a drama in Delhi. He accused the state government of blaming the Centre for its own failure to implement BC reservations.
Rao recalled that the previous YS Rajasekhara Reddy government provided 4% reservations for Muslims in education and jobs, but not in politics. This issue is still in court. However, he claimed that Congress and BRS have favored politics-based reservations, resulting in GHMC elections where Muslims secured 35 out of 50 councillor seats, sidelining genuine BC leaders.
Rao concluded by accusing the Congress of insincerity in implementing 42% BC reservations and making unfounded allegations against the Modi government to hide its shortcomings.
