Hyderabad / New Delhi: Bandi Sanjay Kumar, Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, strongly criticized the Congress party at Jantar Mantar. He claimed their protest was not truly for Backward Classes (BCs) but aimed at securing reservations for Muslims. He mentioned that Congress had abandoned its previous promises and was now pushing what he called the “Mumtiki Muslim Declaration.”
Speaking in New Delhi, Bandi Sanjay accused Congress of planning to grant only 5% reservations to BCs, while redirecting 10% to Muslims under the BC Bill. He argued that Congress was misleading BCs and aiming for fully Muslim reservations.
Bandi Sanjay stated that the Congress protest lacked real support from BC communities. He warned that the BJP would only support the bill if it guaranteed 42% reservations solely for BCs. “Otherwise, we will oppose it. Ambedkar was against religious reservations, and so are we,” he emphasized.
He challenged Congress to discuss its past treatment of BCs openly, questioning if any BC had been made Prime Minister or Chief Minister during Congress’s long rule. “In 50 years of Congress, no BC became PM. In 48 years in united Andhra Pradesh, no BC was CM,” he claimed, listing upper-caste leaders who held these positions.
In contrast, he highlighted the BJP’s achievements, noting that a BC was made Prime Minister three times, 27 BCs became Union Ministers, and BC leaders were appointed as Chief Ministers in various states. “We’ve also honored Dalits, tribals, and minorities with top constitutional roles,” he added.
Bandi Sanjay accused Congress of trying to make Hindus a minority in Telangana through religious reservations and warned of national repercussions. “If this dangerous trend isn’t stopped in Telangana, it will spread nationwide,” he cautioned.
He further criticized Congress for not giving enough representation to BCs in the Revanth Reddy cabinet, nominated positions, and Lok Sabha tickets. “Congress pretends to care for BCs, but weaker sections will soon overthrow it, just like in UP, Bengal, Bihar, and Tamil Nadu,” he concluded.
