Hyderabad/New Delhi: Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy criticized the Congress Party after their protest at Jantar Mantar in Delhi. He accused Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy of trying to impress the Gandhi family with the event. Reddy said the meeting was more about praising Rahul and Sonia Gandhi than focusing on welfare for the Backward Classes (BCs).

Reddy argued that the gathering aimed to gain favor with the Gandhi family amid political challenges in Telangana. He criticized the Congress for not fulfilling the promises made in the Kamareddy Declaration for BC welfare. According to him, they pledged huge funds over five years, but nothing has been allocated yet.

He also accused Congress of delaying local elections to avoid backlash, claiming they were playing games with reservations. Reddy noted that in the GHMC elections, Muslims won 31 out of 50 seats reserved for BCs, alleging involvement of AIMIM. He said Congress, by including 10% Muslims in BCs and proposing a 42% reservation, was reducing BC representation.

Reddy criticized Congress for a flawed survey that lowered the BC population count, accusing them of repeating the mistakes of the previous BRS government. He stated the BJP would oppose any reservations based on religion that violate the constitution.

He also condemned Congress’s past actions, mentioning the shelving of the Kaka Kalelkar Commission report in 1955 and ignoring the Mandal Commission recommendations. Reddy pointed out that Congress has faced severe defeats in the last three elections and struggles to win over 100 seats.

Reddy dismissed Revanth Reddy’s criticism of Prime Minister Narendra Modi as pointless. He said mocking Modi is ineffective, as the country enjoys stable governance under his leadership. He advised Congress to abandon hopes of returning to power at the Centre for the next 30 years.
