Hyderabad: BJP Chevella MP Konda Vishweshwar Reddy criticized the historical actions of the Congress party regarding national security. He accused leaders from Jawaharlal Nehru to Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi of prioritizing vote bank politics over the nation’s safety.
On Thursday, Reddy discussed the complex history of the international border between what was once East Pakistan (now Bangladesh) and India. He pointed out that India has 111 enclaves in Bangladesh, while Bangladesh has 51 within India.
He argued that despite being called the “Iron Lady,” Indira Gandhi did not finalize border agreements. Reddy claimed that for about 65 years, Congress policies allowed illegal immigrants from Bangladesh to settle in India. He highlighted that in 2015, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi and former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the border issue was resolved. Modi’s government implemented the 100th constitutional amendment on May 28, 2015, to address this matter.
Reddy also accused Nehru of merging the Hindu-majority areas of Jessore and Khulna with Pakistan. He alleged that these regions elected Dr. B R Ambedkar to Parliament, but Nehru acted out of spite to prevent Ambedkar’s participation by allowing these areas to join Pakistan.
