Goshamahal Police in Hyderabad have registered a criminal case against Girish Kumar Agarwal and three others for illegally using a siren on a private vehicle, misusing VIP stickers, and misbehaving with on-duty police officers. The case, registered as FIR No.150/2026, has been filed under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Motor Vehicles Act. The incident highlights growing concerns over unauthorized use of emergency equipment by private individuals.
The case came to light on 28 April 2026 at approximately 11:30 hours when a white Toyota Fortuner bearing registration number TS 09 FP 5004 was intercepted by Sub-Inspector M. Raghavendra of Goshamahal Traffic Police at the Traffic Training Institute, Goshamahal. The vehicle was stopped for using a siren in violation of traffic norms. During the interaction, the occupant of the vehicle allegedly behaved rudely with the police staff and produced an identity card claiming to be from a National Human Rights Organization to justify the unauthorized use of the siren.
Following the interception, police investigation revealed that the accused had misused both the siren and VIP stickers on the private vehicle. The actions of the accused amounted to impersonation, violation of traffic rules, and creating public inconvenience. The vehicle has been seized by the authorities and handed over to Goshamahal Police Station (Law and Order) for further legal action. The police are treating the matter seriously as it involves multiple offences under different sections of law.
Notices under Section 35(3) of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023 have been issued to the accused persons. A-1 Girish Kumar Agarwal, A-2 Hanuma Reddy, and A-3 Kitesh have been directed to appear before the police for questioning. Meanwhile, A-4 Nagesh is currently absconding, and efforts are underway to trace and apprehend him. The notices require the accused to present themselves before the investigating officers at the earliest.
The unauthorized use of sirens and VIP insignia on private vehicles has become a matter of concern for traffic authorities in Hyderabad. Such practices not only violate traffic regulations but also create confusion among other road users and can potentially obstruct genuine emergency vehicles. The misuse of official-looking equipment by private individuals is considered a serious offence as it amounts to impersonation and undermines the authority of legitimate officials.
The Goshamahal Police have issued a public advisory emphasizing that unauthorized use of sirens and VIP insignia on private vehicles is a punishable offence under law. Citizens are strongly advised to adhere to traffic regulations and refrain from using any equipment or markings that are reserved for official government vehicles and emergency services. The police have warned that strict action will be taken against violators who attempt to misuse such privileges.
