Hyderabad: In a tragic event, 17 members of the Modi Agarwal family lost their lives in a devastating fire at Gulzar Houz in the Old City of Hyderabad. The fire, reportedly caused by a short circuit, has left the community in shock.
On Tuesday, senior BJP leaders — MPs Eatala Rajender, Konda Vishweshwar Reddy, and MLA Raja Singh — visited the grieving family to offer condolences and pay their respects.
Speaking at the condolence gathering, Eatala Rajender described the incident as heartbreaking. He called for a complete investigation into the fire. “We need to know exactly when the fire started, when emergency calls were made, and how quickly rescue teams responded,” he said.
Rajender expressed concern over the safety of buildings in the area. “Many structures in Charminar, Begum Bazaar, and other parts of the Old City are old and vulnerable,” he warned. He urged the Telangana Chief Minister to create a detailed plan to prevent such disasters in the future.
He also proposed holding a joint meeting with MPs and MLAs from the GHMC area, led by the Chief Minister, to review building safety and emergency response systems. Rajender stressed the need for the Fire Department and medical teams to be on-call around the clock to handle emergencies better.
Calling the fire a terrible tragedy, he said losing an entire family like this is simply unbearable.
