Hyderabad Commissioner of Police VC Sajjanar has issued stern warnings ahead of the Holi festival, making it clear that forcefully applying colours on unwilling persons will not be tolerated. The police chief emphasized that strict action will be taken against anyone violating these norms during the celebrations.

The Hyderabad Police have prohibited throwing colours on pedestrians or vehicles in public places. Commissioner Sajjanar stated that such activities disrupt public order and cause inconvenience to citizens who do not wish to participate in the festivities. Violators will face legal consequences under the City Police Act.

To prevent harassment of women during the festival, She Teams will be deployed in plain clothes across the city. These special units will patrol various locations to ensure the safety of women and girls, with officers authorized to take immediate action against any miscreants engaging in inappropriate behavior.

Citizens have been advised to use natural colours instead of chemical-based ones during celebrations. The police department has expressed concern over the health hazards posed by synthetic colours, which can cause skin allergies and other medical complications. The advisory encourages festival-goers to opt for eco-friendly alternatives.

The police have made it clear that no permissions will be granted for DJs during celebrations. Additionally, vehicles will be seized if groups create nuisance on roads. Traffic police have been instructed to maintain strict vigilance on roads and take action against those disrupting normal vehicular movement.

In a significant measure, liquor shops, toddy shops, bars and restaurants within Hyderabad Commissionerate limits will remain closed from 6 am to 6 pm on Tuesday, March 3, 2026. This step has been taken to prevent alcohol-related incidents and maintain law and order during the festival.

In view of the ongoing Ramzan month, the Commissioner directed officials to ensure that prayers are not disturbed during Holi celebrations. Police will coordinate with peace committees and deploy additional forces in sensitive areas to maintain communal harmony. The department has emphasized the need for mutual respect between communities during this period.

Cases will be registered under the City Police Act against those violating norms. Citizens are advised to dial 100 in case of any law and order issue and cooperate with police to celebrate the festival safely. The police department has set up a monitoring system to respond quickly to complaints and ensure peaceful celebrations across the city.
