Hyderabad: At the BJP Telangana State Office, BJP State General Secretary Kasam Venkateswarlu criticized the Congress Party’s approach to Backward Classes (BCs) reservations. He claimed they are misleading the public and breaking legal rules.
On Wednesday, he accused the Congress of engaging in manipulative politics in Telangana. He mentioned the Kamareddy Declaration, which promises 42% BC reservation in local bodies, questioning its legality. He stated that the Congress is treating Telangana like an experiment, pointing out that the ordinance lacks Assembly approval.
Venkateswarlu discussed constitutional issues, noting that BJP State President Ramchander Rao, a legal expert, explained how religious-based reservations are not allowed under the 9th Schedule. He warned that the ordinance could reduce actual BC reservations to 32% by allocating part of the quota to Muslims, calling this move unconstitutional.
He criticized the Congress for not keeping past promises, such as the Udaipur Declaration and caste census in Karnataka. He also highlighted the lack of BC representation in top government positions like Chief Minister and Prime Minister.
Venkateswarlu demanded transparency from the Congress government, asking them to release caste census details and explain their legal plans for BC reservations. He emphasized the need for a constitutionally valid law rather than temporary solutions before elections.
He stated that the BJP has consistently supported Dalits, Bahujans, BCs, and middle-class communities, highlighting the inclusive nature of its central cabinet. He reaffirmed the BJP’s commitment to appoint a BC Chief Minister in Telangana if elected and urged the public to hold Congress accountable for its promises.
