The BJP is gearing up for the upcoming parliamentary elections by launching a campaign in Bhadrachalam, a holy town known as the Ayodhya of the south. The party aims to secure 17 seats in the state to support the Prime Minister in his bid for a third term. The ‘Vijaya Sankalp Yatra’ campaign chariots were launched by state BJP president and Union Minister G Kishan Reddy, with Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai set to lead the campaign from Bhadrachalam on February 25.
People in various parts of the country have shown their devotion to Lord Ram by displaying ‘Jai Sri Ram’ flags in response to the BJP’s call. The party is now looking to capitalize on these sentiments to strengthen its position in Telangana, particularly in the ST Constituency of Mahabubabad Parliament. Bhadrachalam’s proximity to neighboring states like Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, and Chhattisgarh has prompted the invitation of the Chhattisgarh Chief Minister to join the campaign.
The BJP’s commitment to developing the Lord Rama temple is evident through the NDA government’s allocation of funds, with Rs 90 crore released under the PRASAD scheme. This move aims to win over voters’ hearts, especially considering that no Central government had previously allocated funds for the temple’s development. The party is strategically targeting Tribal communities, particularly in Chhattisgarh, to secure support in the Mahabubabad Constituency where sentiments associated with Bhadrachalam hold sway.
District president of BJP, KV Ranga Kiran, expressed confidence in the party’s strength in the district and anticipation of a significant boost from the ‘Vijaya Sankalpa Yatra.’ The focus is on winning the Mahabubabad and Khammam seats, with preparations underway for the campaign event on February 25 in Bhadrachalam. A preparatory meeting was held in the temple town, attended by leaders from the erstwhile Khammam district.
