Hyderabad: A bomb threat email sent to Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) on Friday caused widespread panic in and around the airport.
The threat came through an email received by the airport’s administrative department. The message claimed to be from a terror sleeper cell and warned of an imminent explosion. The sender also challenged the State government, saying the attack could happen at any time.
As soon as officials saw the email, they alerted security forces. The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), local police, and a bomb squad quickly arrived at the scene. They launched a full-scale search operation to check for any explosive devices.
Security teams thoroughly inspected the airport and surrounding areas. Officials followed all safety procedures to protect passengers and staff.
Investigators are now working to trace the sender of the email. Authorities are treating the threat seriously and have strengthened airport security.
