Hyderabad: Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Open University (BRAOU), in collaboration with the Retailers Association Skill Council of India (RASCI), held a Job Fair on campus. This event aimed to boost skill development through their Stipend-Based Apprenticeship Program (SAP).
Students from all over Telangana attended the event on Thursday. It showcased new opportunities for them to earn while they study.
Prof. Ghanta Chakrapani, Vice Chancellor of BRAOU, addressed the attendees as the chief guest. He stressed the university’s goal to empower students with education linked to scholarships. He explained that students in the SAP can earn between Rs 7,000 to Rs 24,000 monthly while pursuing their studies.
“Our aim is for students to gain education and become employable or entrepreneurial,” Prof. Chakrapani stated. He mentioned plans for future partnerships with esteemed organizations for more job fairs and skill-focused programs. He also emphasized the university’s commitment to preparing students for managerial roles through a stipend-linked, practice-oriented degree program.
The Vice Chancellor praised the Telangana government’s efforts to enhance women’s entrepreneurship in both urban and rural areas. BRAOU’s collaboration with WE-Hub supports this initiative, aiming to nurture innovation and leadership among women. He also announced new short-term vocational courses for tribal and rural students through the Swami Ramananda Tirtha Rural Institute.
Virtually joining from Mumbai, Sameer Narsapur, Head of Standards & Quality Assurance at RASCI, highlighted the value of combining education with work experience. Chanda Vadde, General Manager of Industry and Academia (RASCI South), discussed RASCI’s Four-I’s model—Individual, Institution, Industry, and India—which is central to the curriculum design.
“The SAP program provides more than just a certificate—it develops financially independent and professionally skilled individuals,” she said, promising students better job prospects after completing the program.
