Gadwal: Kuruvu Pallaiah, a leader from BRSV and coordinator for Jogulamba Gadwal District, has accused the District Transport Department of serious negligence and corruption. He calls for the immediate suspension of the District Transport Officer and Motor Vehicle Inspectors.
At a public gathering in Aiza Mandal, Pallaiah criticized officials for ignoring repeated complaints about overcrowded private school buses. He compared the situation to herding sheep.
Despite numerous complaints, no action has been taken against school buses carrying too many students. Pallaiah warns that this negligence endangers students’ lives.
He accused inspectors of only superficially checking buses and not verifying documents like insurance certificates. Many school buses, he claims, operate with fake insurance and are not properly inspected.
Pallaiah mentioned a recent accident involving a bus from Loyola School that had no valid insurance, resulting in a fatality.
He further alleged that inspectors take bribes from schools to ignore safety violations. “People believe officials turn a blind eye for money,” he stated.
Unanswered Questions Raised by BRSV Leader:
- If inspections are real, why do uninsured buses still operate?
- Why are unsafe buses still transporting children?
- Why do buses in Nadigadda operate without necessary permits, fitness certificates, and safety measures?
Pallaiah questioned why inspections focus only on Aiza mandal, asking if other areas like Gadwal town are being ignored despite having many schools and buses.
He criticized transport officials for neglecting long-standing illegal operations and buses smuggled from other states.
Social media posts show students from Srikrishnaveni, Sri Chaitanya, and New Geethanjali schools in overcrowded buses, yet nothing is done. “Are student lives or business more important?” he asked, calling it a tragic situation.
Pallaiah reminded the public of past incidents, such as:
- Collisions between New Geethanjali and Kakatiya school buses in Aiza,
- A road mishap involving a Nava Bharathi school bus,
- A Nobel School driver in Gadwal driving under the influence until stopped by the public.
Despite complaints to the DTO for district-wide inspections, no action has been taken. Pallaiah demands the District Collector suspend negligent officials immediately.
The event saw attendance from BRSV’s former town president Veeresh, Tulasi Goud, Mahesh Goud, Raju, and other local activists.
